Didina kuća

In the heart of the beautiful and peaceful medieval town of Bač, between the Franciscan Monastery and the Parish Church, stands the Ethno house “Didina Kuća.” Located in the very center of town on one side, and surrounded by the gentle silence of the Mostonga River and the medieval Fortress on the other, it offers visitors an idyllic scene. The foundations of the house date back to the early 19th century. Expanded and renovated, it acquired its present appearance in the early 20th century. Equipped and decorated with period furniture and household items, it transports visitors back to the time of warm brick stoves and the fragrance of mother’s cooking.

Along with old and long-forgotten dishes, beverages, and sweets, guests can enjoy pleasant and romantic moments by the traditional wooden porch under the well sweep, in an authentic rural environment.

“Didina Kuća” offers around 100 seats on the summer terrace and in the reed-covered garden. During the summer, alongside visits by organized groups, the house is suitable for hosting celebrations, seminars, art colonies, and literary evenings. On cold winter evenings, sitting on a bench beside the warm brick furnace, guests of “Didina Kuća” can take part in various workshops of old crafts—from weaving, pottery, and gold embroidery to painting on silk and glass.

The back part of the courtyard is designated for various competitions—from cooking in cauldrons to old rural sports: sack jumping, tug-of-war, horseshoe throwing, and ring toss—both for children and adults. Children up to 11 years old can experience unforgettable moments with the traveling puppet theater, where characters from famous fairy tales and fables will entertain them—all in the open air.

A weekend at “Didina Kuća” can also be spent preparing winter preserves or participating in the traditional Bačka pig slaughter, with a special area available for such occasions. Alternatively, you can spend your weekend walking around and exploring the municipality of Bač, accompanied by the gastronomic offerings of “Didina Kuća” and good tamburica music.
