Calvary

At the end of Bačka Tvrđava Street, near the canal and the town gate, stands the Catholic shrine known as Calvary (equivalent to Golgotha). In the Catholic tradition, it is a pilgrimage site during Easter Week. It features 14 stations symbolizing Christ’s Passion on the road to crucifixion. The Calvary was built in 1842 by order of the Kalocsa–Bač Archbishop Petar Klobušicki. It has been restored several times, and it is maintained today by the parish priest of St. Paul’s Church in Bač.
